My name is Erik Restificar [rest-if-ih-kar] and I am currently a Lead Interactive Developer at Isobar in Chicago, IL. I enjoy building new technology, sharing ideas, and learning from others.

“My mission is to help change the web into a more attractive, useful, and accessible resource for everyone.”

Beginning in 1998, I built my first website on Geocities using their web-based WYSIWYG tools and was quickly intrigued by the endless possibilities of the Internet. By 2000, I learned how to write my own HTML code, create Flash animations, and design computer graphics in Photoshop. After four years at Loyola University Chicago, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Information Systems.

Since then, I have had professional experience working as a Web Developer, Quality Analyst, IT Analyst, and Interactive Developer, while also doing freelance work in web development. A lot has changed since I started in web development in 1998 — the aesthetics have advanced, new technologies have emerged, and the strategies to syndicate information have evolved. Yet throughout these changes my dedication to technology and design has remained constant. Through my work, I strive to remain at the forefront of web development and help make the web a more attractive and user-friendly experience.

My experience with art is very diverse. Some works include using medias such as painting, drawing, photography, computer graphics, and computer animation. I take advantage of my knowledge in art, typography, color theory, and grid layouts and utilize it when designing web pages.

I have a strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures, Algorithms, Design Patterns, MVC Architecture, and Agile Development. With this background, it's easy to leverage this knowledge in any programming and scripting language and quickly build efficient, easily-maintained, and functional applications
